Vulcan & Region Family & Community Support Services
Family and Community Support Services was established as a funding partnership between the Government of Alberta and local municipalities/Metis Settlements to provide preventative social services to promote and enhance well-being among individuals and families and promote the development of stronger communities. The programs depend on community resources, often involving volunteers in the delivery of programs. One of the key principles of the FCSS Program is local responsibility for priority setting and resource allocation. Local FCSS Programs are part of the larger provincial Program that collectively helps to ensure that Albertans have access to a strong network of prevention supports. FCSS can provide support or service based on need to children, youth, families, adults, seniors and volunteers or externally fund other organizations that may be serving that need. Programs developed are intended to help individuals in their community to adopt healthy lifestyles, thereby improving the quality of life and building the capacity to prevent and/or deal with crisis situations should they arise.
Vulcan and Region Family and Community Services is a funding partnership between the Government of Alberta, the Town of Vulcan, Vulcan County, and the Villages of Lomond, Carmangay, Milo and Arrowwood.
Vulcan and Region FCSS offers a local presence for people to walk through our door or call when help is needed. If we cannot help, we will refer to the appropriate service. To stay informed we host a monthly Interagency Meeting, currently the first Wednesday of the month, to help all organizations stay informed to make quality referrals, partner and collaborate and reduce duplication. Staff also attend various other boards and coalitions to stay informed and to contribute to the important work being done by many in our community.

If you or someone you know is struggling and has to choose between paying bills, medical expenses or rent, give us a call, we can help. If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness, the Rural Reaching Home Project is federally funded through the Rural Development Network and operated in Vulcan County under the Food Bank to address and prevent homelessness.
